Role overview
GreenSlate is hiring a Director of IT to lead a growing team that supports its cloud-based IT environment. Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer and Head of IT, this person will shape the direction of IT infrastructure, guide strategy, and drive improvements across systems, tooling, and service delivery. The role is designed for someone who can think broadly about complex technology ecosystems while also making practical decisions that improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
This position plays a major part in enabling the company’s growth and day-to-day productivity, while also ensuring that the AWS environment remains a stable foundation for the company’s web application and the accounting and payroll services it supports. The role is remote within the United States.
About GreenSlate
GreenSlate is a fast-growing technology and business services company serving media productions. Its cloud platform modernizes production accounting and entertainment payroll by replacing paper-heavy processes with digital workflows. The company supports studios, film franchises, independent producers, and content creators with payroll, software applications, production accounting, tax credit management, ACA compliance and benefits, production insurance, and consulting services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead IT service delivery for a distributed remote workforce of more than 200 employees, improving SLA performance, first-contact resolution, and end-user experience.
- Manage the condition, performance, and full lifecycle of endpoint devices, including patching, imaging, remote fixes, and hardware setup.
- Run automated onboarding, offboarding, and device lifecycle processes.
- Work with internal stakeholders on systems architecture, access management, and related cloud services such as AWS, Google Workspace, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
- Approach IT work with an automation-first mindset, reducing manual effort across onboarding, ticket handling, patching, reporting, and SaaS provisioning.
- Assess and introduce AI and automation tools that improve IT productivity or create measurable business value.
- Partner closely with the CISO to turn security requirements into operational controls, configurations, and staff practices.
- Own vulnerability remediation workflows for IT-managed systems, coordinating CVE triage, fix timelines, and change management with security teams.
- Maintain SOC-audit-ready records of assets, access, and change activity in Jira and Rippling.
- Ensure security tools are deployed and connected to Jira-based incident processes across endpoints and servers.
- Lead, coach, and develop helpdesk and systems administration staff while building a culture of accountability and improvement.
- Hold regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and growth discussions with team members.
- Partner with department leaders to understand changing technology needs and deliver scalable solutions.
- Set, monitor, and report on IT KPIs such as ticket SLAs, first-call resolution, fleet compliance, patch coverage, and automation return on investment.
- Manage the IT and SaaS budget, identifying opportunities to reduce cost and consolidate tools without weakening capability or security.
What you should bring
- At least 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or IT operations, including 4 or more years in a management role.
- Proven success leading IT in a remote-first or distributed organization; multi-country experience is a plus.
- Strong practical knowledge of Kaseya VSA or a similar remote monitoring and management platform.
- Enterprise-level Google Workspace administration experience, including organizational units, MDM, Vault, shared drives, and the admin console.
- Experience with IT service management tools, ideally Jira Service Management, including workflow setup, SLA management, and reporting.
- Familiarity with internal IT environments involving IAM, SSO, EC2, S3, and VPN/network connectivity.
- Working understanding of EDR tools and endpoint security posture management.
- Experience running device lifecycle programs covering procurement, provisioning, asset tracking, and end-of-life management at a scale of 200+ devices.
- Strong project management ability to oversee multiple initiatives at once with clear ownership, timelines, and accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Daily use of AI tools, with the ability to explain how they have been used to speed up work, reduce manual tasks, or solve operational problems.
- Direct exposure to enterprise AI platforms such as Claude, Copilot, or similar tools, including rollout, policy creation, and user adoption.
- Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, Make, or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to read, write, or review scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to support provisioning, fleet management, and IT operations.
- Comfort estimating the impact of AI and automation initiatives in terms of time saved, error reduction, and business value.
- A service-oriented mindset with executive-level communication skills.
- Comfort using metrics and dashboards to guide decisions.
- Proactive communication style and the ability to flag risks early.
- Ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment where some processes are still being built.
