Role Overview

TerraPower is hiring an experienced and outcomes-focused Director of Industrial Sector Market Development. This leader will help expand the company’s presence across major industrial markets, including manufacturing, energy, chemicals, infrastructure, and heavy industry. Reporting to the SVP of Business Development & Strategy, the role will shape and execute market growth plans for industrial enterprises in oil and gas, chemicals, and related sectors.

The ideal candidate will bring deep exposure to one or more industrial verticals, a strong understanding of market dynamics, regulatory environments, capital project timelines, and long-term infrastructure partnerships, and the ability to turn market intelligence into commercially attractive growth strategies. The position calls for ownership, accountability, and strong business judgment.

What You Will Do

  • Create and refine TerraPower’s market development approach for industrial sectors such as chemicals, steel, oil and gas, and other related markets.
  • Spot, rank, and pursue high-value opportunities that align with reactor deployment, energy transition, decarbonization, industrial modernization, and power solutions for large-scale industry.
  • Design and execute multi-year growth plans aimed at industrial companies in the U.S. and globally to support TerraPower’s commercial roadmap and business plan.
  • Identify both traditional and emerging opportunities tied to automation, electrification, decarbonization, digital transformation, and operating efficiency.
  • Own industrial market intelligence gathering and synthesis.
  • Convert industrial customer needs into fit with TerraPower’s Natrium technology.
  • Build trusted-advisor relationships with industrial clients pursuing transformation and modernization.
  • Develop executive-level relationships with stakeholders in the hyperscale and data center ecosystem.
  • Drive complex RFP/RFQ responses and assist with commercial deal negotiations.
  • Represent TerraPower at industry conferences, forums, and similar events.
  • Engage with prospective industrial customers and stakeholders, including industry associations.
  • Track, organize, and analyze market insights and trends.
  • Perform market analysis, competitive intelligence, and data center trend forecasting with partners across Engineering, Commercial Strategy, Legal, Operations, and Finance.
  • Lead intelligence collection for the data center sector.
  • Help build, develop, and retain a team focused on industrial sector growth.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 15 years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, or industrial sales leadership across one or more industrial sectors such as chemicals, steel, and oil and gas.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business, or a closely related field is required.
  • An MBA, advanced technical degree, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
  • Proven success in building relationships within industrial sectors.
  • Strong expertise in industrial verticals such as chemicals, steel, and oil and gas.
  • Solid understanding of sustainability and decarbonization programs.
  • Knowledge of industrial capital deployment cycles.
  • Demonstrated leadership in industrial verticals.
  • Experience working through regulatory and policy environments affecting industrial industries.
  • Strong commercial evaluation and negotiation capability.
  • Ability to develop and present investment-grade business cases to executive stakeholders.
  • Background working on large, capital-intensive industrial projects.
  • High trust, integrity, open communication, respect for others, and a collaborative mindset are essential.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 30% to 50% in support of business development, partnerships, and order-book growth.
  • This position is open to remote work from select U.S. locations that fit TerraPower’s business needs for partner engagement, with frequent travel to the Bellevue, WA office.

Compensation and Benefits

The Washington State salary range for this role is $196,537 to $294,806. TerraPower generally places offers in the lower to middle part of the range to preserve internal equity and leave room for future growth. Any offer within the published band will depend on market data and the selected candidate’s background and experience.
