About the Role
JARS Cannabis is looking for a seasoned, people-centered Director of Human Resources to own and improve the full range of HR functions. In this leadership role, you will help shape a workplace culture that is respectful, inclusive, and focused on strong performance while also supporting broader business goals.
You will work closely with executive leadership to build on current strengths, implement meaningful enhancements, and keep the organization aligned with employment best practices, compliance requirements, and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and direct HR strategies that align with the organization’s mission, values, and business objectives.
- Maintain compliance with federal, Arizona, and local employment regulations.
- Act as a dependable advisor to leaders on performance management, coaching, and employee relations matters.
- Shape recruitment approaches that help attract and keep strong talent across all levels of the company.
- Oversee onboarding and exit processes so they are inclusive, smooth, and engaging.
- Develop and update HR policies to respond to changing employee needs, including leave, flexibility, and benefits.
- Support internal movement, development planning, and career progression paths.
- Design and improve compensation and bonus programs that encourage performance and retention.
- Use workforce data such as turnover, engagement, and labor cost trends to guide improvements.
- Coordinate leadership training, compliance learning, and ongoing professional development efforts.
- Encourage employee well-being through clear communication, wellness initiatives, and proactive planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
- SHRM certification is required.
- At least 8 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 or more years in a senior leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of federal labor rules and Arizona employment laws.
- Advanced Excel ability and comfort working with HRIS platforms; iSolved experience is an advantage.
- Clear communicator with a calm, inclusive, and empathetic leadership approach.
- Background in building bonus frameworks, improving benefits, and managing organizational change with care.
- Strong commitment to creating a workplace where employees feel respected, supported, and heard.
