Job Overview
We are looking for a driven and innovative Director of Global Events to join the Marketing team at a leading financial services organization in New York City. This role is a 10-month contract covering maternity leave, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence biweekly at 51 Madison Avenue, NY. Candidates must be local to NYC to avoid travel expenses. The position involves occasional domestic travel for events, which is reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive planning and logistics for various event types, including regional meetings, symposiums, product launches, and client gatherings.
- Coordinate both virtual and in-person events at all scales, from local to international, managing everything from speaker engagement to venue sourcing.
- Oversee event marketing schedules, inclusive of collateral creation, invitation management, giveaway coordination, room block arrangement, and lead generation preparations for trade shows.
- Provide detailed reporting on the return on investment (ROI) of trade shows and events, emphasizing continuous advancement.
- Manage vendor relationships and partnerships, including negotiations on booth locations and marketing opportunities, ensuring alignment with internal departments such as Sales, PR, and Corporate Travel.
- Maintain and curate trade show materials and oversee the Company Store’s premium product offerings in partnership with vendors and design teams.
- Support marketing initiatives through event page setup, registration tracking, virtual platform management (Zoom, ON24, Teams), and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with the global events team to enhance event engagement strategies pre-, during, and post-event.
- Conduct pre- and post-event debriefs to integrate learnings into future planning while managing project timelines, budgets, and quality control.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 7 to 10 years of event planning experience, ideally within financial services.
- Proficient in vendor negotiation and vendor management.
- Exceptional organizational and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Skilled in project management, with solid experience optimizing processes.
- Strategic thinker with a vision for advancing the event portfolio and focused on data-driven outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership in coordinating diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
- Expertise with event registration software, apps, and related technology.
- Highly attentive to detail and capable of managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Budget management proficiency and interfacing with senior executives.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, including some evenings, weekends, and international trips.
- Strong client orientation and hospitality passion.
