Role Overview

The Director of Global Apparel Sourcing & Operations is a strategic leader accountable for overseeing the complete apparel supply chain. This includes sourcing and managing manufacturing partnerships worldwide, inventory and demand planning, and ensuring excellence across all sales channels, including direct-to-consumer storefronts, e-commerce, wholesale, and international distribution. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and onboard global manufacturing partners, optimizing for cost, quality, lead time, and capacity
  • Lead negotiations related to pricing, terms, and capacity with factories and partners both domestic and international, driving cost efficiencies without sacrificing quality or delivery timelines
  • Manage day-to-day and long-term relationships with manufacturing partners, ensuring adherence to quality, compliance, capacity, and delivery commitments
  • Coordinate operational efforts with design, development, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product lifecycle from development to delivery
  • Lead demand planning processes, developing forecasts by style, color, and sales channel aligned with financial goals
  • Analyze historical trends, market data, and stakeholder input to generate accurate sales forecasts
  • Develop and oversee critical product development timelines, collaborating with factories and vendors
  • Work cross-functionally with merchandising, retail, finance, and sales teams to align demand forecasts and purchasing strategies
  • Manage purchase orders ensuring accurate alignment with forecasts, pricing agreements, and delivery schedules
  • Supervise logistics, including warehousing, inventory transfers, and fulfillment operations
  • Monitor inventory health, identifying risks and opportunities to optimize stock levels through rebalancing or liquidation
  • Evaluate factory and supply chain performance through key metrics and dashboards
  • Partner with finance to align sourcing costs and inventory planning with revenue, margins, and cash flow targets
  • Drive process improvements across supply chain and manufacturing operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Maintain real-time tracking of purchase orders and invoices to prevent overpayments and uphold vendor accountability
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, or related field; or equivalent professional experience
  • Over seven years of experience in operations, demand planning, merchandising, or supply chain management within apparel, consumer goods, or retail sectors
  • Minimum three years of leadership experience managing teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP/planning systems such as NetSuite
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, lead times, and seasonal apparel lifecycle management
  • Experience handling domestic and international supply partnerships
  • Strategic thinker with ability to balance high-level planning and hands-on execution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working across teams and leadership levels
  • Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
  • Passion for outdoor lifestyle, fashion, and mission-driven products
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Proficient time management, capable of meeting aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to identify simple solutions for straightforward problems and adapt quickly to changing environments

Physical and Work Environment

  • Ability to remain seated or standing with computer use for the majority of the workday
  • Work environment is free from adverse or hazardous conditions
  • Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds is preferred but not mandatory

Compensation & Benefits

The salary ranges between $115,500 and $149,500 annually, with actual compensation based on budget and candidate experience. This role is eligible for bonuses. Benefits include paid time off, paid leave programs, employee ski pass, and additional company perks. Enrollment timings vary by program.
