Job Overview
The Director of Finance serves as the strategic financial partner at the property level, spearheading financial and operational strategies to promote sustainable growth. This leadership role oversees the hotel’s finance and accounting departments, ensuring strong financial results, regulatory compliance, accurate reporting, internal controls, and strategic financial planning. Acting as a vital business partner to the Executive Committee, this position supports the achievement of commercial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies in line with hotel goals.
- Lead the processes for annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial plans.
- Track budget performance and recommend necessary adjustments.
- Support initiatives that optimize revenue and enhance profitability.
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
- Ensure reports are accurate and timely for management, owners, and corporate offices.
- Analyze financial data to provide actionable business insights.
- Monitor financial KPIs and trends regularly.
- Maintain robust internal controls to protect assets.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, tax rules, and local laws.
- Manage both internal and external audit processes and implement their recommendations.
- Conduct risk assessments related to financial governance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Set performance targets and succession plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and ongoing improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional certifications like CPA, CMA, or an MBA are preferred.
- 8 to 12 years of finance experience, especially with senior leadership in the hospitality sector.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and internal control frameworks.
- Familiarity with hotel management systems such as Opera PMS and financial software is an advantage.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop finance professionals.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high integrity, with strong time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
- Collaborative and solution-oriented mindset, effective across teams and leadership levels.
