About Nerdio
Nerdio’s purpose is to make life easier for IT teams and help organizations get more value from their Microsoft cloud and end-user computing investments.
The company works with businesses of all sizes to deploy, run, and optimize native Microsoft solutions. Its ecosystem includes offerings such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 365, and Microsoft Intune, and it serves enterprises and managed service providers across the globe.
Founded in 2016, Nerdio has built its reputation through a collaborative approach to cloud deployment and management. Its product direction is shaped by feedback from repeated real-world production deployments using its technology.
Today, the platform is used in more than 50 countries by over 15,000 organizations across industries. The company places strong emphasis on service, support, and hiring people who can help maintain that standard.
Nerdio is looking for people who are collaborative, empathetic, driven, and comfortable working at a very fast pace. If you want to contribute to the AVD transformation being driven by Microsoft and Nerdio, this role may be a fit.
Role Overview
The Director of Events will lead the strategy, planning, production, and delivery of Nerdio’s full corporate events portfolio. The scope includes major customer-facing events such as NerdioCon, large industry events like Microsoft Ignite, and important internal gatherings including the company-wide meeting and President’s Club.
This leader will shape event experiences that reflect the brand, strengthen customer and partner relationships, support employee engagement, and help generate pipeline and brand loyalty. The role calls for a mix of creative thinking, operational rigor, cross-functional leadership, and confidence with executive audiences.
The right candidate should be comfortable managing complexity in a high-speed environment, setting a strong standard for attendee experience, and using AI to improve planning, personalization, and efficiency without adding headcount. The role also manages a direct report who owns internal company events and select corporate programs, along with outside vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full strategy, delivery, and budget for the annual customer and partner conference, NerdioCon, and the company’s largest third-party conference, Microsoft Ignite.
- Provide senior oversight for the annual sales incentive trip, such as President’s Club, while the Corporate Events Manager handles day-to-day execution in partnership with Sales leadership.
- Guide the company-wide All-Hands Meeting at a strategic level, with operational execution led by the Corporate Events Manager.
- Work with the Senior Event Manager on leadership offsites, executive offsites, and other internal events as needed.
- Create repeatable planning processes, templates, and toolkits that can be used across the organization.
- Own the events technology ecosystem, including registration tools, mobile apps, event platforms, and virtual or hybrid event solutions.
- Identify and implement AI tools across the event lifecycle to improve content creation, scheduling, logistics, attendee personalization, and post-event insights.
- Define and monitor event KPIs such as ROI, attendee satisfaction, NPS, and lead generation.
- Run post-event reporting and debriefs to support ongoing improvements.
- Manage the consolidated events budget across the portfolio, while the Corporate Events Manager controls spend execution for internal events.
- Oversee the overall RFP and contract process, with the team managing individual bids and agreements.
- Ensure vendor agreements meet procurement and legal requirements.
- Find cost-saving opportunities without lowering the quality of the attendee experience.
- Act as the primary senior partner to Sales, Product, HR, Finance, and Executive stakeholders for key events.
- Work with Demand Generation to make sure events contribute measurable pipeline value.
- Partner with Content and Creative teams on branding, signage, video assets, and promotional materials.
- Keep executive stakeholders informed and aligned on strategy, timelines, and progress throughout the planning cycle.
- Lead and grow the events team, including the Corporate Events Manager and any internal staff, agencies, or contractors.
- Source, onboard, and manage external agencies and production partners when required.
- Build a team culture centered on quality, ownership, and creativity.
Required Qualifications
- At least 8 years of steadily growing event management experience, including 3 or more years at senior or director level.
- Proven success managing large user conferences with 1,000+ attendees and budgets above $4M, as well as trade show programs.
- Background in incentive travel and President’s Club-type programs.
- Experience managing internal corporate gatherings such as all-hands meetings and executive offsites.
- Strong financial management capability, including ownership of event P&L.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to run several complex events at the same time.
- Strong vendor negotiation and contract management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a polished executive presence.
- Comfort working through ambiguity, quick deadlines, and changing priorities.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 40%, including nights and weekends during live events.
