Director of Estimating

Position Summary

This executive role leads the estimation operations for a construction group, spanning Civil, MEP, and Infrastructure sectors. The individual is entrusted with ensuring the precision of pricing, upholding tender procedures, managing commercial risks, and safeguarding profitability on significant bids.

Primary Duties

• Lead the preparation of major tender submissions, verify cost calculations and bills of quantities, and deliver final price proposals to the Group CEO and Executive Board.
• Implement and uphold estimation policies, assess contractual risks under FIDIC guidelines, and perform evaluations following contract awards to assess performance.
• Oversee a centralized cost information repository monitoring prices of raw materials, subcontractors, and general GCC market developments.
• Provide leadership and mentorship for estimation teams across divisions by setting professional standards and planning for team succession.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Demonstrated 18 to 22 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimation and commercial functions, including a minimum of 8 years in senior management roles.
• Proven proficiency in managing tenders within the GCC region, focusing on substantial Civil, MEP, and Infrastructure projects.
• Possession of a relevant bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management; an MBA is advantageous.
• Professional certifications like MRICS or PMP are preferred.
• Strong skills in advanced cost modeling, understanding of FIDIC contracts, high-level decision making, and strategies for commercial risk control.
