Role overview
The main objective of this position is to lead and expand n8n’s Core Experience engineering organization. You will help multiple product teams deliver outstanding user experiences, a strong technical base, and ambitious AI-native product innovation.
You will oversee a large and growing part of the engineering function, supporting several leaders and their teams across AI, Nodes, Community, and Adoption & Retention while influencing how the company builds products in a fast-moving AI-focused environment.
What you will do
- Lead, coach, and develop several engineering teams within Core Experience.
- Structure the organization so it can scale across established product areas and expanding AI-focused teams.
- Build a culture of strong ownership and high performance, where engineers can take on ambitious work, grow quickly, and stay close to customer impact.
- Set the technical direction for your area and guide teams through architecture choices and engineering trade-offs.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to convert strategy into priorities and execution plans.
- Help teams deliver valuable outcomes while balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Support teams creating AI-powered product experiences, especially those using large language models inside the product.
- Apply sound judgment to the risks and opportunities involved in AI product development so teams can move forward responsibly.
- Contribute to how n8n uses AI internally and how customers build AI workflows and agents on the platform.
- Create the right environment for teams to stay effective through growth, uncertainty, and shifting priorities.
- Coach leaders and teams toward excellent execution, healthy collaboration, and consistently high engineering standards.
- Represent the Core Experience organization in the wider engineering leadership group and keep its direction aligned with company goals.
Requirements
- You have spent several years leading multiple engineering teams and directly managing Engineering Managers in a fast-growing product company.
- You are experienced in setting technical direction across a broad product area and translating it into clear priorities and outcomes.
- You bring strong engineering credibility and can contribute meaningfully to architectural discussions and technical decisions.
- You are recognized for developing leaders, giving direct feedback, and helping teams improve ownership, performance, and judgment.
- You have led product engineering teams that shipped meaningful user-facing experiences in a fast-paced SaaS setting.
- You have experience building AI-native products or guiding teams that created AI-driven product experiences.
- You are comfortable leading distributed teams across countries in a remote-first setup.
- You have built systems and working practices that improve delivery, preserve quality, and keep teams focused on outcomes that matter.
- You have experience in a scaling company and understand the organizational challenges that come with rapid growth.
- Experience with developer tools or workflow automation is a plus.
- Interest in open source or developer tooling is a plus.
- Familiarity with TypeScript or Node.js is a plus.
- Strong product intuition and a close partnership style with Product and Design are a plus.
