Position Overview

The Director of Education plays a pivotal role in guiding and managing all educational programs and initiatives. This individual is charged with crafting, executing, and assessing top-notch professional development for educators, curriculum resources, and student-centered activities aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives.

In partnership with internal teams, especially the Director of Grants and Impact, this role ensures programs are innovative, effective, and responsive to the needs of educators and students. Additionally, responsibilities include evaluating program outcomes and supporting grant reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in shaping the organization's educational vision, strategy, and program development.
  • Develop and oversee innovative educational initiatives supporting statewide educators, students, and schools.
  • Ensure alignment of all education programs with organizational goals, state standards, and instructional best practices.
  • Stay current with educational trends, curriculum design, and teaching methods.
  • Manage planning and execution of educator workshops, trainings, conferences, and professional development in both in-person and virtual formats.
  • Foster partnerships with educators, districts, community groups, and experts to enrich programming.
  • Lead the design of curricular materials and student programs including classroom engagement, competitions, leadership opportunities, and events.
  • Oversee program logistics, budgeting, timelines, resource distribution, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to education staff and contractors to encourage a mission-focused, innovative team culture.
  • Collaborate with grants department to evaluate impact, support grant applications, and fulfill reporting commitments.
  • Act as an organizational representative at external events and maintain key partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, curriculum & instruction, educational leadership or related field required.
  • At least 2 years teaching experience.
  • 5 to 7 years in education, nonprofit program management, curriculum design, or instructional leadership.
  • Experience developing and delivering professional development to educators.
  • Strong expertise in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and student engagement.
  • Proven ability in program and team management; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including presentations and reporting.
  • Familiarity with grant processes, program evaluation, and educational data is a plus.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic, mission-driven setting.

Employment Details

  • This is a contract position classified as 1099.
  • Location is primarily remote, but Florida residency is mandatory; Tampa, FL candidates preferred.
  • Up to 40% travel across Florida anticipated to support statewide programs and partners.
  • Work schedule is approximately 30 hours per week for 50 weeks per year.
  • Compensation ranges from $32 to $33 per hour.
