About the Role
The Director of Construction at EVCI provides comprehensive leadership and strategic management for all construction-related activities. This position oversees construction managers and field teams, acting as the primary liaison with clients and senior executives to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all construction operations and onsite teams.
- Supervise multiple projects and construction managers across various regions concurrently.
- Develop and enforce construction standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Represent construction interests to clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders at a senior level.
- Conduct feasibility and constructability reviews and perform risk assessments for projects.
- Assist business development and preconstruction phases, including budget planning, scheduling, and value engineering strategies.
- Manage subcontractor selection, contracting, and performance oversight.
- Ensure strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Procurement teams.
- Monitor financial performance of projects, supporting forecasting and cost control initiatives.
- Resolve escalated onsite issues, disputes, and manage change orders effectively.
- Mentor, evaluate, and develop construction personnel to enhance team performance.
- Participate in executive, client, and internal leadership meetings and provide necessary reporting.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years progressive construction experience with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical, civil, mechanical, and structural construction within industrial or energy sectors.
- Proven ability to manage teams, subcontractors, project schedules, and budgets successfully.
- Capability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications thoroughly.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and construction management software.
- Willingness and ability to travel regionally as required.
Work Environment
- Approximately 40% of work is conducted in the office environment.
- Around 60% travel to active construction project sites is necessary.
