Job description
Role Overview
This position exists to make sure every internal trade business performs at a consistently high standard, with strong speed, dependable quality, and efficient costs delivered at scale.
Leadership of Trade Operations
- Direct and manage the Operations Managers responsible for the internal trade divisions, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Truss, Cabinets, and Interior Finishes.
- Set clear performance expectations and enforce accountability around communication, outcomes, and execution.
- Build and develop leaders who can independently run effective, high-performing operations.
Accountability and Performance Management
- Define, monitor, and evaluate key performance measures across all trade groups, such as cost, scheduling, quality, and output.
- Hold routine performance discussions with each Operations Manager.
- Identify shortfalls early and push consistent improvement across every team.
Operational Excellence and Consistency
- Keep each trade division operating efficiently, predictably, and at a scale that supports growth.
- Create standard processes where needed while still allowing strong operators to execute effectively.
- Spot inefficiencies and implement changes that improve both speed and quality.
Cost, Pricing, and Financial Oversight
- Work with Operations Managers to maintain competitive pricing and disciplined cost control.
- Review labor, material, and production costs across all divisions.
- Find opportunities to reduce spend, improve efficiency, and strengthen margins.
Scheduling and Production Alignment
- Ensure all trade teams are aligned with company start schedules, build pace, and timeline commitments.
- Remove bottlenecks and strengthen coordination between trades and departments.
- Support reliable and predictable production across the organization.
Cross-Department Alignment
- Collaborate closely with Construction, Purchasing, and Leadership.
- Make sure trade operations support broader company objectives and initiatives.
- Reduce friction and improve teamwork between departments.
Vendor and Supplier Strategy
- Join Operations Managers in meetings with important vendors and suppliers.
- Support negotiation efforts, relationship management, and performance expectations.
- Help ensure material availability, pricing, and partnerships contribute to operational success.
Communication and Leadership Rhythm
- Run regular weekly meetings with Operations Managers.
- Establish clear communication channels and expectations across all trade divisions.
- Maintain visibility into issues, wins, and ongoing performance throughout the business.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
- Recognize operational issues early and respond decisively.
- Address the root cause of problems rather than only the symptoms.
- Promote a culture of ongoing improvement across all trade operations.
Additional Information
The company is expanding, and a new headquarters is currently being built in Caldwell, Idaho. This role is expected to relocate to that new headquarters in 2027.
