Job description

About Salvo Health

Salvo Health is revolutionizing care for over 100 million Americans affected by chronic gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders such as IBS, IBD, metabolic liver disease, and obesity. Supported by top venture capital investments exceeding $28 million, Salvo combines a multidisciplinary care team—including registered dietitians, nurses, and GI-specialized therapists—with an innovative technology platform delivering personalized, evidence-driven treatment plans.

Unlike traditional episodic care, Salvo provides continuous, app-based support daily, using remote patient monitoring and insurance-covered services, in collaboration with patients' local physicians. The goal is to complement and enhance community GI care rather than replace it. The company’s investors include leaders and pioneers from health innovation companies like Livongo, Ro, Ginger, and others.

Role Overview

Salvo is seeking a Director of Business Development to spearhead two vital growth initiatives: establishing health systems as a new channel to market and expanding the current private GI MSO pipeline. This senior individual contributor position reports directly to commercial leadership, taking ownership of relationships, sales pipeline, and deal completions from initial outreach through closing, while also shaping Salvo's market entry strategies for health systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Salvo's go-to-market strategy for health systems, including identifying target accounts, defining entry tactics, and building partnership frameworks.
  • Establish and nurture connections with economic decision-makers within health systems such as service line leaders, CMOs, and population health leaders.
  • Manage complex contracting with multiple stakeholders, translating Salvo’s offerings into terms aligned with system goals like quality, access, and total cost of care.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical, product, and operations teams to design sustainable partnership models.
  • Create and refine materials, case studies, and return-on-investment models that appeal to health system audiences.
  • Expand and finalize new GI MSO partnerships, building on relationships with entities like United Digestive, Gastro Health, and Allied Digestive.
  • Map the decision-making hierarchy within private equity-backed MSOs, aligning interests across administrators, physician partners, and sponsors.
  • Maintain rigorous pipeline management with accurate forecasting and consistent deal progress.
  • Accelerate deal closings while fostering strong partnership relationships.
  • Represent Salvo at GI-focused industry events to promote brand presence and source partnership deals.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, clinical, and product teams to refine positioning and support RFP responses.
  • Provide market insights about health system trends and competitive landscape to senior leadership.
  • Assist in defining and growing the business development team structure as Salvo expands.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years in healthcare business development, strategic sales, or partnerships, with significant experience inside or selling to health systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health system decision-making including budgeting, clinical operations, and value-based care priorities.
  • Proven track record of owning and closing deals with accountability to sales quotas or equivalent metrics.
  • Background or strong familiarity with GI, specialty care, ambulatory services, or related areas is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of health system and private equity-backed MSO organizational structures and decision-making processes.
  • Established network and active relationships within the Midwest, East, or Southeast U.S. regions.
  • Ability to work with agility and initiative typical of startups, managing rapid timelines and deal momentum independently.
  • Strong communication and executive presence capable of engaging C-suite executives and practice-level administrators alike.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to develop new strategies rather than follow existing ones.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary approximately $250,000 plus equity ownership opportunities.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • One Medical membership for personalized health care.
  • 401(k) retirement savings program.
  • Emergency childcare support.
  • Commuter benefits to assist with travel costs.
  • Generous paid time off to support work-life balance.
