Job description
Role overview
This position leads business development efforts for the skilled nursing service line and uses sound judgment and discretion to support admissions growth. The role is responsible for managing the admission process between physicians, other referral partners, and facility personnel so residents can be reviewed and admitted efficiently. It also includes shaping marketing approaches for referral source expansion and handling the completion and processing of admission agreements.
Key responsibilities
- Create and carry out a marketing plan for the skilled nursing business line.
- Organize outreach activities and special events that support business growth.
- Review and evaluate suitable referrals for admission and discuss potential placements with internal staff.
- Lead the admission process and act as the main contact for referral sources.
- Build a structured process to track and monitor referrals.
- Prepare and submit marketing reports when requested.
- Coordinate admissions and discharges with the relevant teams to keep information flowing smoothly.
- Serve as the first contact for referrals and inquiries.
- Obtain, complete, and process admission agreements.
- Manage referrals, facility tours, and phone inquiries.
- Contribute ideas for marketing materials and help maintain sufficient supplies.
- Partner with the Business Office to support accurate daily occupancy reporting, updates to the occupancy board, and maintenance of an accurate census by payor source.
- Keep an inquiry tracking system updated so every inquiry is followed through to resolution.
- Maintain an accurate list of open beds.
- Perform rounds and share updates with the appropriate staff to help rooms stay ready and the facility remain presentable.
- Take on additional duties and special assignments as needed.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, or a closely related field is preferred. Equivalent professional credentials and/or relevant career experience may also be accepted. A minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, discharge planning, and marketing is required. Experience with long-term care or skilled nursing admissions is preferred.
Physical requirements
- Ability to walk, sit, and stand intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to reach, bend, and stoop intermittently during the workday.
- Ability to use hands and fingers consistently throughout the day.
- Good visual and hearing capability, or the use of prosthetics that allow these senses to function effectively for the role.
