Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Account Management to lead and inspire our team of Account Managers who oversee post-sale client relationships. This leadership position focuses on driving account retention, fostering license adoption, and optimizing pricing for growth within assigned client portfolios. Account Managers manage full account lifecycles including contract execution, upselling licenses, negotiating price adjustments, and ensuring multi-level client engagement. The Director will also coordinate with Customer Success Managers and Account Executives to support product adoption and cross-selling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP of Customer Experience to design and implement Small/Mid-Market Account Management strategies.
  • Develop comprehensive enablement programs to promote best practices including save strategies, value articulation, multi-threading, negotiation, and industry expertise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clearly define roles and ensure seamless customer communication and smooth handoffs.
  • Provide transparent performance reports to leadership highlighting team metrics, retention status, and areas needing investment or adjustment.
  • Create an effective onboarding experience for new team members in partnership with People Operations.
  • Exemplify exemplary relationship management techniques covering all aspects from strategic planning to renewal negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as an escalation resource to mitigate risks and reinforce trust.
  • Maintain continuous learning about the CRE industry, customer businesses, and competitor technologies.
  • Set and monitor rigorous KPIs for retention, expansion, and account health, using daily dashboards to drive accountability.
  • Oversee pipeline activities, forecasting, and ensure consistent achievement of retention and growth goals.
  • Enforce disciplined CRM usage and documentation standards for the team.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews, deal coaching sessions, and account planning meetings.
  • Define clear performance expectations, communicate progress, and guide career advancement for team members.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop Account Managers with skills in communication, active listening, and time management.
  • Manage team capacity, balancing headcount with revenue targets and ensuring consistent account coverage to avoid customer disruption.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment encouraging cooperation and shared success across departments.

Desired Competencies

  • Exceptional talent management skills, with a strong focus on hiring and developing top-performing team members.
  • Natural ability to cultivate multi-level client relationships to ensure durable partnerships beyond individual contacts.
  • Confident and diplomatic in handling tough negotiations and price discussions without compromising on value.
  • Persistent and problem-solving mindset that views challenges as opportunities to innovate and add client value.
  • Process-driven and tech-savvy, leveraging systems and tools to amplify team effectiveness.
  • Highly responsive communication style, ensuring quick feedback loops internally and externally.
  • Results-oriented, prioritizing tasks that directly drive business outcomes and consistently meet targets.
  • Collaborative approach focused on cross-functional coordination and influence rather than direct authority alone.
  • Excellent time and priority management skills both personally and for team oversight.
  • Willingness to travel for onsite meetings, quarterly business reviews, renewals, and industry events to strengthen client trust.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years in sales or account management roles with quota responsibility.
  • At least 2 years managing Account Managers or similar post-sale client-facing teams.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving revenue and account growth targets.
  • Deep familiarity with B2B SaaS sales cycles, customer engagement, and pricing models.
