Job description
About Mastercard
Mastercard operates in more than 200 countries and territories, helping move money securely, simply and intelligently while supporting a more sustainable economy where more people and businesses can thrive. Through its technology, partnerships and network, the company delivers products and services that help governments, businesses and consumers reach their full potential.
Role Overview
Mastercard Foundry serves as the company’s innovation hub for building new products. The team focuses on innovation in emerging technologies and interfaces, while also shaping how existing solutions can expand into new use cases. Work in this area includes commercial payments, new payment flows, real-time payments, data, and services, with a strong focus on building revenue-generating ecosystems that can operate independently in adjacent markets.
This position sits at the intersection of Open Finance and Business & Market Intelligence, with particular emphasis on platform capabilities such as data-sharing frameworks, consent systems, identity, and API-led ecosystems. The Director will help identify, shape, and launch new products that support secure and scalable multi-party data ecosystems. The role combines near-term commercial opportunities with longer-term platform investments that strengthen Mastercard’s position in open data networks and financial connectivity.
The work requires comfort with ambiguity, the ability to turn strategy into practical platform structures, and the skill to align stakeholders across functions and organizations.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to early-stage product ideation, including running workshops and creating supporting materials.
- Guide the development of concepts and prototypes, while independently managing and completing important workstreams.
- Work with Product & Engineering and the Foundry CX&D team to test concepts and validate market fit.
- Lead or support business case creation and go-to-market planning for individual offerings.
- Create clear, high-quality documents and presentations that support internal and external decisions.
- Encourage innovation and help generate new product ideas.
- Convert business opportunities into scalable platform designs in collaboration with R&D teams.
- Identify and rank high-value use cases across areas such as financial services, lending, insurance, payroll, and commercial data.
- Influence outcomes in a matrixed organization while working under tight deadlines.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated success in taking products from concept to launch in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong background in Open Finance, open banking, data platforms, or API ecosystems.
- Ability to think in terms of platforms, protocols, and ecosystem design rather than only individual features.
- Solid understanding of multi-sided marketplace dynamics and models for exchanging data value.
- Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and executive-level storytelling.
- Prior experience in payments innovation and delivering new market propositions is highly desirable.
- Interest in AI-enabled and agentic patterns within data ecosystems is an advantage.
- Comfort with technical depth and experience partnering with R&D teams.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment.
