Company Overview
Gulf Aircraft & Engineering Services (GAES) is an independent maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider operating close to Sharjah International Airport in the UAE. Its hangar complex is sized to house eight narrow-body aircraft such as B737/A320 models and two wide-body aircraft such as B747/B777 models at the same time. The organization focuses on delivering dependable aircraft maintenance services with a strong emphasis on safety, efficiency, and service quality.
Role Summary
The Director of Logistics & Procurement is responsible for leading procurement, logistics, AOG support, and warehouse functions across GAES. This role is accountable for ensuring aircraft materials and components are available on time and at the right cost to keep maintenance operations running smoothly, while maintaining strong standards in safety, compliance, and operational performance.
Reporting Structure
This role reports to the Director General and oversees the Manager Procurement & Material Planning and the Manager Material Management within the Logistics & Procurement department.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the direction for logistics and procurement activities and turn business goals into practical strategies that support growth and profitability.
- Lead sourcing, purchasing, supplier approval, and vendor performance management to secure dependable, high-quality, and cost-effective supply channels.
- Control department budgets, maintain healthy inventory levels, and drive efficient, lean operating practices that align with commercial objectives.
- Ensure all activities comply with UAE Civil Aviation Authority requirements and GAES internal frameworks, including MOE, WPM, PMPM, and the Code of Business Ethics.
- Build, coach, and retain a capable team while encouraging ownership, continuous improvement, and open communication across the department.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Material Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Strong command of English is required at C2 level. The position calls for at least 10 years of experience in aviation logistics or procurement leadership, including exposure to airline or OEM supply chains and coordination with multi-disciplinary technical teams.
Technical and Professional Strengths
- Strong working knowledge of aircraft material management and logistics operations.
- Demonstrated ability in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Practical experience applying Lean or Six Sigma methods to improve processes.
- Comfort using MS Office tools and ERP platforms.
