Job description

Overview

Qiddiya Investment Company is in search of a seasoned Director for Health & Safety to lead the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) strategy within one of its major precincts. This executive role involves directing the creation and implementation of comprehensive safety programs to ensure full regulatory compliance and maintain a secure work environment throughout all construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute the overarching health and safety strategy for large construction ventures.
  • Establish, update, and enforce tailored health and safety policies, procedures, and standards suitable for extensive building projects.
  • Carry out detailed risk evaluations and safety inspections to recognize potential hazards and put in place effective risk-reduction measures.
  • Lead in-depth investigations into incidents, perform root cause analyses, and ensure prompt implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage health and safety training programs to elevate continuous safety awareness among all construction personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant local, national, and global health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Partner with project leaders, contractors, and relevant organizations to integrate safety practices across all construction stages.
  • Track safety performance metrics and prepare comprehensive reports for senior management review.
  • Promote a safety-first work culture and champion ongoing enhancements in health and safety processes.
  • Stay informed about new developments, technological advancements, and legal updates affecting construction health and safety.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines; Master's degree is advantageous.
  • At least 15 years of growing responsibility in health and safety leadership within large-scale construction projects.
  • Demonstrated success in leading HSE strategies and initiatives in complex construction settings.
  • Deep understanding of applicable local and international safety laws, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership capabilities coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, or equivalent preferred.
  • Expertise in conducting thorough risk assessments and managing incident investigations with follow-up corrective efforts.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a culture prioritizing safety and continual process improvement.
  • Analytical thinker adept at problem-solving in a fast-changing, high-demand work environment.
