Job Overview
The Director of Financial Planning and Business Partner will lead and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role involves providing strategic financial advice to senior leadership and overseeing team performance to meet objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and organize financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to align with company targets.
- Detect and address risks, gaps, and opportunities within financial plans before approval.
- Advise senior leaders on budgets, forecasts, investments, and business strategies.
- Develop action plans for achieving team and department goals, monitoring financial performance, and driving business improvements.
- Analyze financial and operational outcomes against budgets and objectives, leading performance management efforts.
- Review and approve business cases, investment proposals, pricing strategies, and capital expenditures according to policies.
- Evaluate strategic initiatives financially and prepare management reports with analyses and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Promote cost optimization and value generation across the organization while overseeing governance of capital investments.
- Serve as a trusted finance partner, supporting business leaders with financial insights and advice.
- Communicate financial performance variances, emerging risks, and corrective measures proactively to stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, accounting standards, governance procedures, and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements to enhance financial reporting quality, operational efficiency, and risk management.
- Conduct post-implementation reviews of major investments to evaluate benefit realization and performance.
- Promote financial awareness, accountability, and sound decision-making practices throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related numerical discipline.
- Professional accounting certification such as CMA, CIMA, ACCA, CA, or CPA.
Experience
- At least 15 years of professional experience, with a minimum of 10 years in financial planning and analysis, business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, business case evaluation, financial governance, and cost management.
- Demonstrated success in leading complex financial planning and decision support in large organizations.
- Minimum 10 years managing finance teams.
Skills
- Strong commercial insight and understanding of key financial drivers to support organizational growth.
- Advanced skills in financial planning, forecasting, and modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-support abilities.
- Results-oriented finance strategy and business performance program development experience.
