The role reports to the VP, HRBP Corporate Functions and is responsible for shaping how sensitive employee matters are managed, advising leaders on policy and practice, and helping strengthen workplace culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and lead a comprehensive employee relations approach that supports business objectives while staying aligned with legal requirements and recognized best practices.
  • Draft, update, and roll out policies and procedures that comply with labor laws, regulations, and internal company standards.
  • Develop and conduct learning sessions for managers and employees on topics such as conflict management, performance handling, and appropriate workplace behavior.
  • Partner with other HR teams to connect employee relations practices with wider HR programs and help create a global community of practice.
  • Lead a team that includes one direct report and the team reporting into that manager.
  • Oversee grievance handling, workplace dispute resolution, and complaint management, including guidance on or direct leadership of complex investigations involving misconduct, harassment, or policy breaches, while working with global partners to ensure consistent outcomes across regions.
  • Track employee relations indicators, use data to spot trends and risks, and recommend improvements based on analysis.
  • Encourage a workplace culture built on trust, respect, and accountability by promoting open communication, hearing employee concerns, and supporting engagement efforts.
  • Work with legal counsel to reduce risk by managing employee relations cases and, where needed, participating in legal proceedings.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in employee relations, human resources, or employment law, ideally in retail and corporate settings.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline; a master’s degree or HR certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR is preferred. Equivalent education and experience may also meet the requirements.
  • Proven success handling complex employee relations matters in a large organization operating across multiple states or countries.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and ADA.
  • Solid capability in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation.
