Job description

Role overview

Samsung Electronics America is looking for a Director to drive new business development and strategy within the Strategic Partnerships Group, focused on the company’s cross-platform services. The position centers on finding and closing strategic partnerships that grow revenue, support new products and services, and improve the experience across Samsung’s device ecosystem.

This leadership opportunity includes shaping partnership direction and the product roadmap, while also guiding major initiatives across the organization. The right candidate will be able to rapidly build expertise in new industries, technologies, and partnership models, then clearly defend recommendations and earn alignment from executives and other important stakeholders.

The role calls for someone who is comfortable both structuring and negotiating contracts and contributing to product strategy. It requires a proven record of leading complex, high-impact work with cross-functional teams. Experience at the intersection of technology and media is important, along with a strong grasp of the TV market, including major services, distribution paths, and business models.

The ideal hire will bring strong communication abilities, sharp analytical thinking, and a comfort level with complexity. This person should be highly self-directed, thrive in a fast-moving environment, take initiative, juggle multiple partners, and stay effective under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the long-range service strategy and influence the product roadmap.
  • Identify, structure, and execute unique TV partnership opportunities for Samsung’s service business.
  • Assess new opportunities, provide strategic guidance, and win support from executives inside and outside the company.
  • Create non-standard deal frameworks and negotiate large, complex agreements.
  • Develop and implement project plans that support successful execution.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams, serving as the main contact for partnership strategy and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and BD teams across Samsung business units to build new businesses, products, and features that use Samsung’s device ecosystem.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of overall experience, with a Bachelor’s degree; an MBA or JD is preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experience in corporate development, strategy, and partnerships, plus strong knowledge of the technology and media sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, financial modeling, and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage several complex projects at once.
  • Track record of leading senior-level negotiations and presenting to C-suite leaders.
  • Ability to review and interpret detailed product development documentation and contracts.
  • Proven skill in forming and defending views on market and competitive trends and their impact on company strategy.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships, influence key stakeholders, and help set new business direction.
  • Advanced negotiation ability, including experience with redlining complex, multi-layered agreements.
  • Self-driven approach with the flexibility to work effectively in less structured settings and a strong operational mindset.
  • Hands-on, decisive, and highly resourceful attitude.

Compensation and benefits

For candidates located in New York City, the expected annual base pay range is $200,000 to $250,000. Final compensation will depend on factors such as relevant skills, experience, and how the candidate’s background compares with others in the role.

Regular full-time employees, whether salaried or hourly, are eligible for benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Employee Purchase Program, Tuition Assistance after 6 months, Paid Time Off, Student Loan Program after 6 months, Wellness Incentives, and additional offerings.
