About the Company
Our client is a well-established, privately owned business advisory and accounting firm situated in Melbourne, renowned for delivering progressive business advice by integrating traditional accounting principles with modern cloud-based technologies and a unique business improvement framework.
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Business Advisory Director to take full accountability for a prestigious and expanding client portfolio. This senior leadership position reports directly to the Partners and is suited for a technically proficient advisor capable of offering intricate, strategic advice while cultivating enduring, trusted relationships with sophisticated business owners.
Key Duties
- Assume comprehensive ownership of a premium portfolio comprising privately held businesses, serving as the lead advisor and main contact point.
- Provide advanced business advisory services including tax planning, structural business advice, cash flow optimization, profitability enhancement, succession planning, and wealth creation strategies.
- Recognize and capitalize on opportunities to expand the portfolio by strengthening existing client relationships and acquiring new clients.
- Oversee and review team members' technical outputs to ensure high standards of accuracy, quality, and commercial relevance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and advisors fostering technical excellence and a proactive advisory culture.
- Collaborate closely with Partners on complex technical issues, strategic client projects, and firm initiatives.
- Implement and advocate the firm's proprietary methodology for business improvement to assist clients in performance measurement, cash flow enhancement, and strategic growth planning.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on tax legislation, regulations, and industry trends, translating complex information into clear, actionable guidance.
- Represent the firm publicly to enhance its profile and expand its referral network within the local business community.
Candidate Profile
- CA or CPA qualified with significant post-qualification experience in public practice or business advisory roles.
- Demonstrated history managing substantial portfolios of privately held business clients, preferably at Director, Senior Manager, or Associate Director levels.
- Extensive technical knowledge in tax, business structuring, compliance, and strategic advisory.
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and possess strong instincts in business development.
- Experience in leadership, mentoring, and team development.
- Excellent communication skills to simplify complex technical concepts into straightforward, actionable advice.
- Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with senior leadership.
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software, with a preference for Xero expertise.
- Passion for assisting business owners to achieve growth and success beyond mere compliance.
What the Role Offers
- Senior leadership position offering genuine responsibility and influence over a valuable, expanding portfolio.
- Join an established firm with a progressive culture that embraces modern technology and continual investment in systems.
- Work in a setting that prioritizes proactive, commercial business advisory rather than routine compliance tasks, with clear prospects for career advancement.
- Flexible working days and hours and access to a contemporary office environment.
