Job description
Role overview
The Hershey Company is hiring a senior supply chain leader to shape and direct the APAC supply chain and manufacturing agenda. The position is responsible for setting long-term supply chain direction, strengthening core capabilities, and driving disciplined execution that supports growth, service, and margin improvement. The role works closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to translate business priorities into effective supply chain outcomes.
This leadership role carries end-to-end accountability for supply chain performance across the APAC region, including manufacturing operations, people safety, food safety, product quality, customer service targets such as case fill rate and on-time delivery, cost performance, and employee engagement.
The position may be based in either Johor, Malaysia or Singapore City, Singapore.
Strategic and operational planning
- Create and run the APAC supply chain plan in line with the company’s global direction and regional business objectives, with clear emphasis on operating discipline, efficient cost management, and stronger margins.
- Take a leading role in the Integrated Business Management process, owning demand, supply, inventory, and materials planning. Ensure risks and opportunities are surfaced early and that clear recovery or resolution plans are in place to support the business plan and improve forecasting.
- Work with cross-functional partners to respond proactively to market shifts and bring commercial input into supply chain planning and new product introduction activities.
- Simplify and standardize processes across the supply chain to raise efficiency, lower cost, and improve predictability of execution.
Operational excellence
- Oversee the full supply chain network, including owned manufacturing, procurement, production planning, logistics, and distribution, to ensure dependable and cost-effective delivery against business commitments.
- Own manufacturing performance for safety, food quality, production adherence, efficiency, waste, downtime, and financial outcomes, while driving continuous improvement and achievement of margin and cost objectives.
- Shape distribution and transportation approaches based on customer expectations and overall business cost drivers. Negotiate with third-party operators and design outsourcing arrangements that deliver savings without compromising service levels.
Team leadership and capability building
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing supply chain team, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement through the Hershey Lean Program.
- Develop functional and leadership depth across the organization by strengthening critical skills in planning, manufacturing, and operational excellence.
- Improve people leadership within the manufacturing plant to lift engagement, and partner with HR and Legal on union negotiations where required.
- Drive ownership and strong decision-making across a distributed regional organization and lead effectively across time zones.
Compliance and risk management
- Maintain compliance with all relevant supply chain regulations and standards, including occupational safety and health, quality, environmental, and good manufacturing practice requirements.
- Anticipate and reduce supply chain risks through disciplined, proactive risk management so operations remain stable and reliable.
Digital technology and automation
- Assess and implement digital tools and automation that improve visibility, efficiency, and cost competitiveness across operations.
- Build the capabilities needed to sustain and scale process improvements over time.
Experience and background
The ideal candidate brings at least 15 years of progressively responsible supply chain experience, along with a minimum of 7 years in supply chain leadership. A strong background in food, beverage, or consumer goods environments is important, as is a consistent record of leading supply chain and manufacturing functions in complex, fast-changing settings.
Required capabilities
Applicants should demonstrate strong strategic thinking, analysis, and problem-solving ability, along with excellent leadership and communication skills. The role also requires the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels and a solid understanding of both market needs and commercial priorities. English fluency is required.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is required. An MBA is preferred.
