Overview
Spring Branch Independent School District is seeking a Digital Lab Monitor to oversee and facilitate digital learning in a computer lab environment during the 2026-2027 school year. This paraprofessional role includes supervising student behavior, supporting the use of digital equipment and software, and ensuring a productive and respectful learning atmosphere. The role involves collaborating with teachers and technical personnel to maintain and enhance digital learning tools.
Responsibilities
- Gain thorough familiarity with all digital software and hardware before student use.
- Train, observe, and reteach students to ensure proficient use of equipment and software.
- Enforce high standards of student behavior and engagement in both individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with onsite and remote teachers to foster a conducive digital lab environment.
- Promote a culture of respect, enthusiasm, rapport, and digital citizenship for both in-person and remote learners.
- Maintain and monitor digital equipment, coordinating technical repairs as needed to minimize disruptions.
- Manage student behavior consistent with the Student Code of Conduct.
- Engage students in their digital learning through various motivational strategies.
- Provide instruction on using digital software and hardware effectively.
- Assist students with time management and troubleshoot digital learning issues.
- Answer basic content-related questions at the elementary level when possible.
- Seek and incorporate feedback from supervisors and team members to improve professional skills.
- Ensure teachers receive relevant data generated from learning software to aid instructional planning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, tutors, and school leadership, sharing observations about digital tools’ effectiveness.
- Participate in professional development opportunities within the school.
- Perform additional duties such as lunchroom supervision or bus duty as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Pending Teacher Certification or completion of advanced technology coursework.
- Possession of Educational Aide Certification.
- Broad proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong computer troubleshooting skills involving software and hardware.
- Experience working with children preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Maintain emotional control under stress and manage frequent interruptions.
- Regular in-person interaction with the public.
- Physical tasks include moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
- Frequent standing, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, repetitive hand motions, and prolonged computer use.
Additional Information
The position reports to the Building Principal and is classified as a paraprofessional with non-exempt hourly status following the pay grade 207 salary plan. The role involves 188 working days per year.
