Job description
Role Overview
This role begins as a contract position with the potential to transition into a full-time role. The successful candidate will work primarily remotely, ideally aligning with Eastern Standard Time. Compensation ranges from $85 to $125 per hour on contract, with a full-time base salary ranging between $85,000 and $125,000 annually.
About the Role and Company
Join Little Plains, a modern brand and product studio collaborating mainly with early-stage startups from pre-launch through Series A. Little Plains acts as an embedded creative partner, integrating brand, product, and market strategies into scalable solutions for industries including healthcare, biotech, SaaS, and consumer products.
The Digital Designer will focus on UI/UX, website, and product design, bridging the gap between product flows, user interactions, and precise user interface visuals. This role involves working from initial research and prototypes to production-ready user interfaces across both web and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive digital design projects from initial research and prototyping through to final production-quality UI.
- Create intuitive, functional, and visually compelling user flows, interactions, and interfaces suitable for web and mobile environments.
- Apply consistent and scalable brand systems to user interface designs.
- Develop and maintain robust design systems and reusable components that support product scalability.
- Approach design thinking with systemic perspective to ensure pattern scalability across products.
- Collaborate closely with product leads and development teams to ensure feasibility and practical implementation of designs.
- Work iteratively, incorporating feedback swiftly and maintaining a clear, confident design perspective.
- Utilize advanced tools such as Claude and Figma Make to craft early prototypes prior to finalizing detailed designs.
Work Philosophy
Design work is conducted synchronously with strategy, branding, and engineering decisions, rather than being transferred post-completion. The team operates on sprint cycles with evolving deliverables, valuing decision quality above mere speed.
Key Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in digital, UI/UX, or product design with a preference for backgrounds in consumer technology, SaaS, or AI-driven products.
- Proficient in Figma with strong expertise in user research, user flows, and interaction design.
- Experience designing interfaces for both web and mobile platforms, emphasizing functional excellence and meticulous craftsmanship.
- Skilled in building and maintaining design systems and reusable components.
- Adept at translating brand guidelines into scalable, functional product user interfaces.
- Comfortable working in rapid-paced environments alongside product managers and engineers.
- Regularly utilizes AI innovation tools like Flora, Weavy, MidJourney, Claude, and Paper to enhance ideation and workflow efficiency.
- Exemplary attention to detail with a commitment to quality on every level of design.
Employee Benefits (For Full-Time Positions)
- Quarterly profit sharing based on studio performance.
- Equity participation available for long-standing team members.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with 50% employer coverage.
- Starting with 15 days of paid time off in the first year, increasing by 2 days each subsequent year.
- Paid one-week office closure during summer.
- Paid office closure between Christmas and New Year.
- Parental leave: 12 weeks at full pay for birth parents; 6 weeks at full pay for non-birth parents.
- 20 hours of prenatal leave paid annually.
- $1,000 yearly stipend for craft supplies and tools.
- $200 monthly coworking space stipend.
