Role overview
The Seventh Judicial Circuit Court is hiring a part-time Digital Court Reporter-Transcriptionist based in one of its circuit locations, including DeLand, St. Augustine, Bunnell, or Daytona Beach. The position pays $21,990 per year and includes state benefits.
What the role involves
This position supports court proceedings through digital audio recording technology and the creation of audio/video records from those systems. The selected person will monitor assigned hearings, make appropriate notes and annotations, and keep accurate records of each proceeding. The role also requires transcribing court events when needed and maintaining all documents and recording media in an organized manner.
Work environment and duties
The job calls for sustained concentration during long periods of monitoring. It also includes routine upkeep of recording equipment, prompt reporting of any technical issues, and coordination with court staff and related public agencies. Working relationships will involve court personnel, the Clerk of the Court, the State Attorney, the Public Defender, other state agencies, and members of the public.
Reporting structure and location flexibility
This position reports to the Court Reporting Manager/Digital Court Reporting Supervisor. Some travel between courthouses throughout the circuit is required, and mileage is reimbursed at the state rate when available. Headquarters may change depending on the court’s operational needs.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold CET (Certified Electronic Transcriber) certification from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers Inc. (AAERT). A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 2 years of secretarial and/or clerical experience. Education completed beyond high school may be used to replace experience on a year-for-year basis.
