Dietician - Registered Dietitian for Diabetes Education Centre

About the Role

The Diabetes Education Centre at North Bay Regional Health Centre offers comprehensive assessment, education, and ongoing support to people affected by diabetes and their families through a multidisciplinary outpatient service. As the centre's Registered Dietitian, you will collaborate closely with Registered Nurses and a Registered Social Worker to provide personalized nutrition counselling, diabetes self-management education, and group programs. This position serves a diverse patient group and includes specialized programs such as diabetes and pregnancy counselling, a provincially recognized paediatric diabetes service, and an insulin pump program, allowing you to make a meaningful contribution to community health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized nutritional counselling tailored for people living with diabetes.
• Provide diabetes self-management education and support to individuals and groups.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient care.
• Participate in specialized program delivery including paediatric and pregnancy diabetes education.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential or actively pursuing certification.
• Three to five years' experience educating individuals with diabetes.
• Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and presentation abilities.
• Willing and able to travel; possession of a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle mandatory.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Internet applications.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Providers obtained within the past year.
• Eligibility for Dietitians of Canada membership considered an asset.
• Membership in the Educator Section of the Canadian Diabetes Association is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Commitment to workplace safety and prevention of adverse events.
• Good attendance and work history.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French at an advanced level required; however, unilingual candidates may be considered if they meet the French requirement or when no bilingual candidates are successful. A formal French language assessment will be conducted.
