Overview
Quinte Health is seeking a dedicated Diagnostic Imaging Clerk to join our team in Trenton, Missouri. This role is essential in supporting diagnostic imaging services by managing records, coordinating appointments, and assisting patients and staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls, take messages, screen and redirect calls appropriately, and communicate with individuals inside and outside the hospital as necessary.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of departmental files.
- Prepare diagnostic examinations by providing previous exams and ensuring all relevant information is updated and documented in diagnostic folders or envelopes.
- File and retrieve diagnostic records in designated areas, including purging files in accordance with departmental policies.
- Retrieve and organize patients’ files based on scheduled diagnostic studies daily.
- Provide operating room, clinics, physicians, and external organizations with requested images and information promptly.
- Fulfill receptionist duties such as distributing daily mail and scheduling patient appointments.
- Register patients for all diagnostic imaging examinations and direct patients and visitors to nursing units and other departments.
- Confirm patient demographics, billing, and account status via the hospital information system.
- Dispense patient preparations as indicated by departmental protocols or physician orders.
- Copy files or records for physicians, patients, and other authorized parties as required.
- Perform additional related duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in medical secretary, medical transcription, or an equivalent combination of grade 12 education and relevant work experience.
- Completion of a Medical Terminology course through a recognized college.
- Proven typing skills and familiarity with basic clerical tasks, including computer and word processing, email, and fax operations.
- For internal applicants, prior disciplinary and attendance records will be taken into consideration.
- Possession of a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of 5 to 10 pounds, not exceeding 15 pounds.
- Frequent sitting for extended periods.
- Occasional standing and walking on hard surfaces, as well as bending and stooping.
- Regular fine finger movements, frequent gripping, grasping, and eye-hand coordination, plus brief reaching with both hands.
