Role Overview
This opening is for a Desktop Support Engineer / IT Support Engineer based in Aschheim, Germany. The position may be offered as a contract role or a full-time employment arrangement. English is not specified as a requirement; the role specifically calls for German at native or fluent level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver first- and second-line assistance for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
- Handle user incidents and service requests through the ticketing platform, by phone, or through direct, in-person support.
- Install, update, and support operating systems and software across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
- Diagnose and resolve problems affecting hardware, applications, and peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, and docking stations.
- Prepare new employee workstations and set up the required user accounts and access permissions.
- Track IT assets and keep equipment records accurate and up to date.
- Provide technical support during employee joining and exit processes.
- Assist remote staff with VPN access, remote desktop tools, and connection-related issues.
- Work with other IT teams when issues need escalation or when project support is required.
- Adhere to security procedures and help with antivirus deployment, patching, and data protection practices.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous hands-on experience in desktop support, helpdesk, or IT technician work.
- Good working knowledge of Windows, Office 365, and core networking principles.
- Exposure to ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Zendesk, or JIRA.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with solid interpersonal ability.
- Good analytical thinking and troubleshooting capability.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting macOS or Linux systems.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator.
- Practical familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, and remote management platforms such as SCCM, Intune, or JAMF.
Working Conditions
- This is an on-site support role.
- Some lifting of equipment may be needed, up to 25 lbs.
- Flexible hours or after-hours support may be required during maintenance windows or urgent situations.
