Job description

Role Overview

This contract position is for a Deskside Support professional handling both L1 and L2 support in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The role is centered on keeping desktop and end-user technology running smoothly in a fast-moving financial services environment.

Experience

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in IT desktop support or trade floor support, ideally within asset management or financial services.
  • Prior exposure to supporting portfolio managers, traders, and research teams.
  • Background in environments where speed, accuracy, and market sensitivity are critical.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Windows desktops and endpoint support.
  • Ability to configure and support multi-monitor and high-performance workstation setups.
  • Preferred familiarity with market data tools such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and FactSet.
  • Working understanding of OMS/EMS and portfolio management platforms, including tools like Aladdin.
  • Basic infrastructure knowledge covering Active Directory, VPN, networking, and Citrix/VDI.

Process and Tools

  • Experience using ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar tools.
  • Ability to assess and prioritize incidents according to their impact on investment operations.
  • Comfort working in support models driven by service-level agreements in financial settings.

Soft Skills

  • Strong ability to work with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Comfort delivering VIP or white-glove support.
  • Capability to stay effective in high-pressure, market-driven situations.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Clear, confident communication when handling urgent issues.
  • High ownership, attention to detail, and accountability.
