Role Overview

DAR Engineering is hiring a Designer / Senior Designer for its Power Business Unit in Chennai. The role covers primary electrical, secondary electrical, mechanical, and civil design support for LV, MV, HV, and EHV substation projects. This position is suited for professionals who can contribute from early concept work through IFC delivery while coordinating across disciplines and maintaining quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will support drafting and design execution for power sector projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance at every stage.

• Prepare drawings that meet drafting standards, quality expectations, and delivery schedules.
• Work in line with established drafting procedures and project-specific guidelines.
• Review project plans to understand drafting feasibility, limitations, and execution requirements.
• Use modern drafting methods and tools to produce effective technical drawings.
• Complete drafting work within allocated timelines and man-hours.
• Keep up with current developments in relevant drafting practices and tools.
• Support compliance with QMS requirements across the drafting team.
• Assist senior design team members with design and drafting tasks as needed.

Desired Skills and Competencies

The role requires strong technical drafting ability, coordination skills, and the confidence to work with multiple design tools and project systems.

• Strong grasp of drafting standards aligned to client requirements.
• Ability to develop project drawings based on instructions and specifications.
• Working knowledge of drafting software, software administration, project DMS administration, and e-folder monitoring.
• Capability to complete design tasks within deadlines while maintaining quality.
• Experience in estimating man-hours for drafting work and managing folder systems.
• Ability to guide and lead a team of draftsmen.
• Hands-on exposure to MicroStation, Building Designer, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools.
• Good presentation and documentation skills in English.
• Arabic language knowledge will be considered an advantage.
• Interest and passion for drafting work.

Experience and Qualification

Applicants should have 1 to 8 years of relevant experience. The role is open to candidates with a degree or diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical disciplines. The listing also mentions B.Tech / B.E. in any specialization and diploma in any specialization as acceptable eligibility.

This position is for the Chennai location within the Power Business Unit.
