Designer - Multi-Family Housing

About the Role

LRS Architects invites applications for a full-time Designer position within our Multi-Family Housing Studio. Our team is dedicated to designing residential environments that foster strong communities and improve residents' quality of life. As a Designer, you will collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, and project managers on a diverse portfolio that includes affordable, workforce, market-rate, and mixed-use housing projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in design and production processes for multifamily housing projects from initial planning stages to construction completion.
• Work cooperatively with project teams to craft innovative, practical design solutions aligned with client objectives, budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
• Develop BIM models as well as drawings, renderings, detailed schedules, and presentation materials.
• Support site analysis, research building codes, plan building layouts, unit configurations, amenity spaces, and conduct design studies.
• Coordinate tasks with architects, interior designers, engineering consultants, and other project contributors.
• Abide by firm protocols including BIM standards, quality assurance practices, and project guidelines.
• Engage in all project phases including programming, design development, documentation, construction administration, and closeout activities.
• Effectively manage assigned workload and deadlines, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
• Advance your technical skills, design capabilities, and professional development through mentorship and hands-on project involvement.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
• Experience ranging from entry-level to up to 3 years in architectural practice.
• Proficient with Revit and common design software utilized in the architecture industry.
• Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Adept at managing multiple tasks and collaborating within diverse project teams.
• Strong drive, curiosity, and willingness to contribute to impactful housing projects.
• Prior experience with multifamily, mixed-use, affordable, student, or senior housing is valued.
• Knowledge of residential planning principles, building codes, accessibility standards, and housing design concepts.
• Skill in preparing construction documentation and design deliverables.
• Capability to interpret and produce technical drawings and specifications.
• Understanding of building systems, materials, detailing, and constructability aspects.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and consultants.
• Strong abilities in design visualization and problem-solving.
