Job description
About the role
This position focuses on engineering and releasing exterior trim parts for automobiles within a service-based organization. The work spans concept-to-launch support for a range of visible exterior components and requires close coordination with multiple functions involved in vehicle development.
Core responsibilities
- Engineer and approve exterior trim parts such as front and rear bumpers, grilles, fascias, wheel arch claddings, rocker panels, garnishes, spoilers, and other exterior moldings.
- Create, update, and control 3D CAD data, 2D technical drawings, and related engineering records.
- Handle part releases using PLM tools and keep release data current.
- Process engineering change requests and engineering change orders.
- Confirm that designs align with customer requirements, internal standards, and applicable regulations.
- Work in sync with styling, CAE, manufacturing, tooling, supplier, and quality teams throughout development.
- Contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance analysis, and design validation work.
- Help resolve technical issues during prototype builds, validation trials, and production ramp-up.
- Track product targets related to quality, cost, mass, manufacturability, and timing.
- Assist with APQP, PPAP, and launch execution for new vehicle programs.
Preferred background
- Prior exposure to global automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing feasibility, tooling considerations, and assembly methods is advantageous.
- Experience with Agile or V-cycle product development approaches is desirable.
