About the Role
We are seeking a Design Engineer skilled in CAD and SolidWorks with specialization in sheet metal design for automotive components. This full-time position is based in Dubai, UAE, and requires immediate availability or a notice period of up to 30 days. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in automotive sheet metal design, with hands-on expertise in translating designs to manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for automotive sheet metal parts and tooling using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Design sheet metal components, jigs, fixtures, and press tools for production and quality assurance.
- Develop bill of materials (BOM), GD&T drawings, and technical documentation aligned with automotive industry standards.
- Perform flat pattern development, calculate bend allowances, and apply design for manufacturing (DFM) principles relevant to sheet metal.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, and production teams to ensure design feasibility on the shop floor.
- Support prototype fabrication, testing, and implement design changes based on feedback from production.
- Manage design data, maintain revision controls, and document engineering change notes.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors responsible for tooling and component procurement.
- Ensure all work complies with automotive industry standards and client specifications.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2 to 4 years of practical experience specifically in CAD design with a focus on automotive sheet metal components.
- Advanced command of SolidWorks including part modeling, assemblies, sheet metal, surfaces, and drawing generation.
- Proficient in 2D drafting using AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, press brake operation, welding, and machining.
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and automotive ISO standards.
- Preference given to candidates with direct shop floor or manufacturing experience related to sheet metal.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with automotive sheet metal jigs, fixtures, body parts, brackets, and enclosures.
- Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
- Work experience in the UAE or GCC region is considered beneficial.

- The position offers a monthly salary ranging from AED 4000 to AED 5000 plus benefits.
