About the Role
LRS Architects is seeking a Design Coordinator for our Multi-Family Housing Studio. This role is crucial in developing and coordinating housing projects from initial design stages through to construction. You will collaborate closely with Design Managers, Design Leads, consultants, and project teams to translate design concepts into coordinated, buildable solutions that align with client objectives and contribute to community strengthening.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and technical development of multifamily housing projects across all phases of design and construction.
- Generate and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) models, construction documents, details, schedules, and other project deliverables.
- Collaborate with project teams to advance project goals concerning quality, budget, schedule, and design intent.
- Coordinate assigned technical tasks with engineering consultants and other project disciplines.
- Assist with building planning, research into relevant codes, accessibility standards, unit layouts, amenity spaces, and general project documentation.
- Apply firm standards, BIM protocols, quality assurance procedures, and project guidelines consistently.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, consultants, clients, and regulatory bodies as directed.
- Manage assigned tasks and deadlines, proactively anticipating future project requirements.
- Provide support during construction administration, including addressing contractor inquiries and reviewing project documentation.
- Foster continuous professional growth by developing technical expertise and project coordination skills through mentorship and project involvement.
Requirements
- A professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
- Approximately 4 to 6 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design, with at least 3 years directly relevant to this role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Revit and BIM-based project delivery.
- Proven experience in preparing and coordinating construction documents.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Effective verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while working collaboratively.
Additional Valued Experience
- Experience with multifamily housing, mixed-use, affordable housing, workforce housing, student housing, senior living, or similar residential project types.
- Familiarity with residential building codes, accessibility requirements, and housing design principles.
- Experience coordinating work from consultants, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil disciplines.
- Ability to develop and coordinate technical documentation through various project phases.
- Understanding of construction materials, building systems, detailing, and constructability.
- Experience supporting projects during the construction administration phase.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Progress towards architectural licensure or professional certification is considered a plus.
What We Offer
- Hybrid work flexibility, blending remote and in-office options.
- Competitive salary with annual reviews and opportunities for advancement.
- Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and FSA plans.
- 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.
- Generous paid time off and over 7 paid holidays annually.
- Support for licensure, certification, and continuing education.
- A collaborative and inclusive culture that emphasizes mentorship, work-life balance, and equity.
