Job description

About Flag & Anthem

Flag & Anthem was established in 2016 as a premium apparel brand focused on comfortable, versatile clothing with a polished-yet-rugged, vintage-influenced style. The company is recognized for strong product quality, careful attention to detail, and pricing that remains accessible. Its collections span seasonal menswear such as casual shirts, knitwear, denim, chinos, hybrid shorts, and related categories, and the brand has also expanded into women’s wear. Flag & Anthem works with well-known ambassadors and supports charity-driven initiatives that contribute to the community. Its products are sold through major department stores, specialty retailers across the country, and the brand’s own ecommerce platform.

Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position in New York, NY supports the design team in building men’s casual woven products from early concept stages through production. The role combines creative, technical, and organizational work, including trend research, sourcing fabrics and trims, preparing and updating tech packs, and helping assemble presentation materials. The assistant also maintains design references and archives, coordinates with internal partners across merchandising, production, and graphics, and helps ensure styles are accurate, consistent in fit, and delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

The Design Assistant will contribute across all woven categories, including shirts, pants, outerwear, and swim. The work includes researching market direction, visiting the marketplace for inspiration and product ideas, creating and maintaining flat sketches in Adobe Illustrator, and preparing, submitting, and revising tech packs in PLM. The role also requires updating bills of materials, following up on fabric and trim approvals, tracking seasonal samples, monitoring new fabric and product developments, and coordinating prototypes, salesman samples, lab dips, strike-offs, and trims. In addition, the assistant reviews production samples for construction and detail accuracy, shares follow-up notes with factories, and stays engaged with vendors throughout the production cycle.
