Job description

Role overview

The Australian National University is seeking a Deputy Residence Manager to help deliver an outstanding residential experience for postgraduate students living on campus in Canberra. In this role, you will support the Senior Residence Manager in building a strong residence community, coordinating engagement activities, and contributing to student wellbeing, academic success, and personal development.

The position sits within the Residential Experience Division, which supports nearly 6,500 domestic and international students who live in ANU accommodation. Each residence is designed to offer high-quality facilities along with a distinctive culture and student experience.

This role may require being on call when needed, and involves close collaboration with partners across the University to maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive living environment.

Employment details

Classification: ANU Officer 8 (Administration).

Employment type: Full-time, continuing.

Salary package: $124,392 to $133,017 per annum, plus 17% superannuation.

The role also comes with a range of benefits, including four weeks of paid annual leave, relocation assistance, generous parental leave, flexible and part-time working options where suitable, a parental and aged care support program, dual career hire support, staff and family tuition fee discounts, school holiday programs for children, and on-campus childcare facilities.

What you will do

You will help coordinate residential programs and community initiatives that support student life at postgraduate residences. The role focuses on strengthening residence culture, supporting academic and wellbeing outcomes, and contributing to student pastoral care, safety, and development.

You will also work with internal and external stakeholders, help develop service improvements, and operate effectively in a complex environment.

Selection and application notes

Applicants must submit an online application through the ANU recruitment portal and include a detailed CV, the names and contact details of at least three referees, a statement responding to the selection criteria, and any other required documents.

Applications that do not address the selection criteria may not be shortlisted.

The preferred candidate must have the legal right to live and work in Australia and will need to complete mandatory pre-employment declarations and background checks in line with university procedure and the national higher education code on responding to gender-based violence.

Equity and inclusion

ANU encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and is committed to equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion across all backgrounds and identities.
