The Role and Department

The Deputy Head of Student Registry sits within the Deputy Head Management Team in Student Registry and shares responsibility for leading teams across the department. This leadership group focuses on delivering excellent services, strengthening resilience, improving processes, and overseeing staffing, policies, and procedures.

The team helps shape the direction and day-to-day running of Student Registry services through policy development and application, service enhancement, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

The successful candidate will directly manage one or more teams within Student Registry. The portfolio covers student records and registration, statutory student data submissions, timetabling, exams and assessment, publication of results and degree verification, issuing student award and status documents such as transcripts and parchments, face-to-face student guidance through the Student Advisers desk in the Palatine Centre, and management information relating to student data.

Responsibilities across the portfolio may evolve over time depending on operational needs.

Student Registry is part of the Student and Academic Services Directorate, which provides professional administrative support to staff, students, and prospective students at Durham University.
