Job description
Overview
The Deputy Chief Manager at Aditya Birla Capital is entrusted with developing, executing, and validating a comprehensive Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework. This ensures that critical business functions can resume within agreed timelines during any crisis or disaster disrupting normal operations.
Challenges
- Increasing frequency and severity of external disruptions makes it challenging to plan and manage business continuity effectively.
- Heightened customer expectations demand uninterrupted service delivery, as failures risk reputational damage. Creating and maintaining an effective Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is both essential and complex.
- Rapid business growth and introduction of new products require organization-wide readiness on BCP protocols.
- The extensive geographic spread, with over 600 branches across more than 500 cities including high-risk locations, necessitates clear communication of contingency roles to all personnel.
- Securing commitment and awareness from various departments on BCP plans and corrective actions is challenging due to dynamic work environments and human factors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain function-wise BCP plans, conduct tests including table-top exercises, and monitor outcomes to ensure effectiveness.
- Promote widespread preparedness by regularly reviewing BCPs, issuing testing reports to department heads, analyzing risk assessments, and organizing team discussions for practical validation.
- Oversee timely resolution of identified corrective and preventive measures, tracking progress, escalating delays to senior management, and highlighting risk implications if unaddressed.
- Champion embedding BCP into organizational culture through risk workshops at headquarters and regional offices, specialized BCP training for emergency response teams, regular employee communications, and risk awareness initiatives.
- Develop and manage systems to maintain and update the organization's BCP documentation.
- Monitor adherence to the BCP calendar by conducting and reviewing activities from scheduled risk team meetings, ensuring progress through regular status updates.
- Aim to achieve a green rating on scorecards and audit outcomes by guaranteeing full compliance with BCP schedules, conducting quarterly reviews, and compiling monthly management information systems reports for senior leadership.
- Prepare and present timely reports to the BCP Committee summarizing compliance status and readiness by gathering comprehensive data from all functions.
