Job description
Role overview
This role partners closely with the Chief Digital and Information Officer to steer Doha Bank’s Digital Solutions & Technology division. The function covers Business Solutions, Enterprise Digital Architecture, Digital Technology, and Applications Testing. The position is responsible for bringing stakeholders together to uncover technology opportunities, shape customer-focused and inclusive digital offerings, and drive improvements in performance, risk reduction, and operational efficiency across the bank.
Strategic leadership
- Help define and deliver the overall DS&IT strategy and objectives, ensuring the Digital Solutions & Technology function is aligned with them.
- Work with the Chief Digital and Information Officer to shape the scope, goals, and value proposition of the digital solutions strategy based on business needs and market direction.
- Assist in creating key performance measures for the department so success can be tracked and improvement opportunities identified.
Operational leadership
- Guide the creation and rollout of policies and procedures for the Digital & Technology Solutions function to support smooth and effective operations.
- Ensure long-term, cost-conscious, and well-structured solutions are documented and communicated for the bank’s technology requirements.
- Lead the development of efficient work methods and internal procedures across the section, aligned with best practices and approved policy.
- Support efforts to improve the cost efficiency and return on investment of digital and technology initiatives.
- Work with DS&IT and business units to identify key opportunities, processes, and risks, and to shape new capabilities that strengthen enterprise systems, business architecture, and IT strategy.
- Oversee the creation of methods to assess enterprise architecture quality and establish measurement frameworks to ensure alignment.
- Direct collaboration with business units and product teams to define analytics needs and turn business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Review internal business intelligence needs across both organizational and functional levels and determine the most suitable BI approach.
- Lead research into software and technology products based on business requirements and technology demand.
- Work with DS&IT teams, business lines, vendors, and partners to ensure digital solutions support the bank’s wider business strategy.
- Evaluate and oversee FinTech partnerships that support strategic business goals.
People management
- Assign deliverables, supervise direct reports in their daily work, and support performance management through feedback and coaching.
- Recommend hiring and promotion decisions to the Chief Digital and Information Officer.
- Support recruitment by reviewing candidates against the department’s role requirements.
- Help employees plan career growth in line with department and organization goals.
Qualifications and experience
- A university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or another related technical field is required.
- A master’s degree in Management, Technology, or another related discipline is an added advantage.
- Fifteen to twenty years of overall experience in financial services or banking, with responsibilities relevant to the discipline, is required.
- Experience in program management within emerging digital environments, especially in consulting, will be an added advantage.
- Prior experience developing digital business solutions aligned to strategic business initiatives is required.
- Strong exposure to enterprise architecture best practices and technology transformation is required.
Certifications
- Professional credentials such as PMP or Prince2 are preferred.
- Industry-recognized certifications related to the digital landscape are also preferred.
