docbraces Charlottetown & Summerside is hiring a full-time Registered Dental Hygienist to support its orthodontic clinics in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver friendly, supportive patient care and build rapport at every appointment.
  • Provide hygiene treatment guided by clinical findings and the patient’s overall oral health goals.
  • Educate and support patients in improving their oral health and overall well-being.
  • Gather dental and relevant medical histories for use during assessments and treatment planning.
  • Prepare patients for orthodontic review and procedures.
  • Set up patients and equipment for X-rays, then take images while following safety protocols.
  • Check gums for signs of infection or periodontal disease.
  • Clean teeth by removing plaque, then polish, floss, and brush as needed.
  • Assist with bonding and removal of brackets and other orthodontic appliances.
  • Place and remove arch wires as directed.
  • Teach patients about proper oral hygiene habits and explain treatment progress.
  • Keep patient charts, records, and examination notes accurate and up to date.
  • Complete lab-related duties assigned by the orthodontist or leadership team.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain dental tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Follow up with patients after treatment and respond to questions.
  • Travel to satellite clinic locations when needed.
  • Contribute to a respectful, cooperative, and upbeat team environment.
  • Work effectively in a fast-moving setting with energy and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Dental Hygiene diploma or Dental Hygiene degree program.
  • Current registration and/or licensing with the provincial dental hygiene regulatory authority, in good standing.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in an orthodontic setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to help patients feel comfortable.
  • Good time management and organizational abilities.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity. The role is based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, with possible travel to satellite locations when required. The position is part of a clinic culture that values patient care, teamwork, and professional growth.
