Job description

About Lumino

Lumino is a nationwide dental network made up of skilled professionals who focus on delivering great patient experiences and quality dental treatment. With more than 125 practices across New Zealand, the organisation plays an important part in local communities and supports its teams with ongoing guidance and care.

The culture at Lumino is built around a friendly, supportive workplace where both patients and team members are valued.

About the Role

Lumino Oamaru is hiring 2 dependable and energetic people to work as Dental Assistant/Receptionists on a part-time, fixed-term basis. The role is mixed in nature, with most of the time spent assisting clinicians at chairside and additional support provided at reception whenever required.

This position offers exposure to both clinical and front-desk duties in a busy dental setting. You will work alongside an experienced team, gain useful insight into the dental industry, and have the chance to develop your skills further.

Key Duties

As a Dental Assistant, you will support clinicians during a range of dental procedures. The job also includes sterilising instruments, maintaining infection control standards, and helping manage stock.

In the reception component of the role, you will be the welcoming first point of contact for patients. Tasks may include answering queries, scheduling and confirming appointments, taking payments, handling banking tasks, and carrying out general administration.

Working Hours

  • Tuesday: 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • Wednesday: 8:30am to 5:30pm

This is a fixed-term role ending on 18 December 2026.

What You Need

The ideal candidate will bring a positive, helpful attitude and be comfortable working as part of a team. Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is an advantage, but full training can be provided to the right person.

Experience with sterilisation work or customer service is also preferred. You should have a strong eye for detail, a solid work ethic, confidence with computers, and the ability to pick up new systems quickly. Clear communication, active listening, and good interpersonal skills are essential.

Application Process

After applying, you will receive an automated email with a short set of questions. This first step is designed to be quick and low-pressure, and you can complete it at a time that suits you. Once your responses are received, the team will get back to you and continue the process promptly.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
