Job Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Demi Chef specializing in Indian cuisine to join our culinary team in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Your duties will involve assisting the Chef de Partie in preparing authentic Indian dishes while maintaining food quality and hygiene standards. You'll work collaboratively with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation, help plan menus including new Indian dishes, oversee ingredient inventory, mentor junior kitchen staff in Indian culinary techniques, and contribute to food cost management and waste reduction efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chef de Partie with preparing and cooking Indian dishes adhering to established recipes and quality requirements.
- Maintain consistency and high standards for all food items produced.
- Keep workstations clean and organized, complying with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Coordinate with team members to facilitate seamless kitchen operations during service hours.
- Participate in menu development focused on Indian cuisine.
- Manage inventory levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Train and guide junior team members in Indian cooking methods.
- Engage in initiatives aimed at minimizing food waste and controlling costs.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Demi Chef or similar role with a specialization in Indian cuisine.
- Expertise in preparing a diverse array of Indian dishes with a solid understanding of the culinary traditions.
- Competent with knife skills and usage of typical kitchen equipment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
- Preferred culinary degree or diploma.
- Food safety certification is advantageous.
- Physical endurance to stand for long periods and handle heavy items as needed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
