Role overview
The Demand Planning Specialist will be responsible for building and maintaining demand forecasts for several product lines within an industrial setting. The role is focused on keeping sales, operations, and supply chain plans in sync so the business can hold the right stock levels, prevent shortages, and reduce surplus inventory.
Core responsibilities
- Create and maintain precise demand forecasts across multiple product groups.
- Partner with sales, business development, and operations teams to ensure forecasts reflect the overall business plan.
- Track demand patterns and flag potential risks as well as growth opportunities in advance.
- Maintain the right balance between demand and supply to support healthy inventory levels.
- Apply forecasting tools and planning platforms to strengthen forecast reliability.
- Compile reports and share actionable insights with management to support decisions.
Stakeholder coordination
- Coordinate with Sales, Business Development, and Marketing to gather demand inputs.
- Work with Production and Operations teams on capacity planning.
- Liaise with Procurement to align supply with expected demand.
- Support Finance with budgeting considerations and cost impact analysis.
External coordination
- Engage with suppliers and vendors to help maintain supply continuity.
- Work with logistics partners so deliveries match the demand plan.
Performance measures
- Forecast accuracy
- Inventory turnover
- Service level / fill rate
- Reduction in forecast bias
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is required.
- Between 3 and 7 years of experience in demand planning or forecasting is preferred.
- Prior exposure to industrial operations or multi-product environments will be an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and data analysis is necessary.
- Experience using ERP or other planning systems is required.
