Job description

Role Overview

The Dean of Culture plays a central part in shaping the school environment, promoting safety, and helping scholars prepare for both career pathways and life after the classroom. The position focuses on supporting scholar success through targeted interventions, while also handling academic assistance and discipline-related duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a positive, secure, and productive building culture that encourages learning and personal development.
  • Design and carry out interventions and action plans that help scholars succeed academically and personally.
  • Coordinate parent engagement efforts, including meetings, outreach calls for attendance concerns, home visits, and challenging parent conversations when required.
  • Respond to and manage behavior-related issues across the building with appropriate interventions.
  • Contribute to scholar recruitment and retention efforts during the summer period.
  • Assist with classroom coverage gaps, academic support needs, and planning for post-secondary pathways.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required at minimum.
  • Experience working with scholars, especially teenagers, is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational ability and comfort managing several priorities at once.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and remain effective when plans change.
  • Good command of technology and common digital tools.
  • Valid driver's license and dependable access to a car are required.
  • Willingness to work weekends and occasional late evenings.
  • Collaborative mindset and the ability to function well in a team setting.
  • Strong accountability, follow-through, and deadline management.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Respect for cultural differences and the flexibility to tailor approaches to unique needs.
