Daytime Custodian

Role summary

The custodian is responsible for keeping the assigned school facility clean, orderly, and presentable throughout the day. This hourly classified role reports to the School Plant Operator and follows a schedule designed to support the daily upkeep of the building and grounds.

Employment details

This is a classified hourly position under job class code 7609. Work is structured around a 260-day contract and the board-approved 104 salary schedule. The role requires an 8-hour workday.

Minimum qualifications

• High school graduation is required.
• Previous experience in plant or facility maintenance is preferred.
• A valid driver's license must be held and kept current.
• The position involves physical activity such as pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 40 pounds, along with kneeling and reaching overhead.

Core duties

The custodian helps maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the school building, surrounding grounds, and shared spaces based on the schedule set by the School Plant Operator. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, seasonal outdoor maintenance, sanitation, waste removal, securing the building, and reporting maintenance issues.
