The database administration group is responsible for the databases used by digital banking businesses across multiple regions. The team’s mission is to provide dependable, secure, and consistent database support for large-scale financial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day administration and maintenance of banking databases, including capacity planning, installation, backups, recovery, monitoring, security, compliance, optimization, and issue resolution.
• Work closely with development teams on database design, creation, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Assess current software architecture and help shape future database architecture to improve reliability and performance.
• Identify and drive projects that lower database operating costs and automate recurring tasks.
• Create documentation and deliver training on database standards and best practices.
• Investigate new technologies and methods that improve high availability and data persistence performance.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a similar discipline.
• Strong understanding of SQL, relational databases, high availability, and performance tuning.
• Practical exposure to at least one project using MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Golang.
• Hands-on experience with Linux administration and Shell scripting.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability, including the capacity to remain effective in urgent or high-pressure situations.
• Careful attention to detail, with an agile and adaptable working style.
• Comfort handling several tasks at once and adjusting to changing priorities.
• Quick to learn and open to working across different database technologies.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and independent working skills.
