About the role
This position sits within a team focused on protecting Android users worldwide from harmful and abusive applications, including malware, content abuse, impersonation, and behavior-based abuse. The work is highly analytical and adversarial in nature, as the team continually improves its ability to identify bad actors who attempt to evade detection. The outcome of this work has direct impact on keeping the Android ecosystem safer for users.
As a Data Scientist working on product and ecosystem trust, you will partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Program Management teams to define the right metrics, uncover insights, and support key product and engineering decisions. Your analysis will cover ecosystem impact, policy compliance, review efficiency, and model performance. You will turn data into actionable recommendations and help improve processes where appropriate.
Android powers more than 3 billion devices globally and is designed to broaden access to computing, information, productivity, and connectivity. The platform supports OEMs and developers in creating devices and services for users around the world.
Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience applying analysis to business problems, including insight generation or statistical analysis, plus coding experience with Python, R, or SQL; alternatively, 2 years of relevant experience paired with a master’s degree.
Preferred qualifications
- A master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience solving focused business problems through investigative approaches, including working with large datasets and applying statistical techniques.
- The ability to manage several assignments at once in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate clearly with technical leadership and stakeholders.
- Deep curiosity about data, metrics, trends, measurement, statistics, and program evaluation.
Work authorization
Candidates with an existing right to work in Singapore will be prioritized. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and improve investigative frameworks that act as trusted measurement sources for the organization.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to define performance targets, KPIs, and success metrics.
- Run full-cycle analysis, from gathering data and clarifying requirements to processing, interpretation, ongoing reporting, and presentations.
- Identify opportunities and risks through deeper analysis so the team can better understand trends and allocate resources effectively.
- Work with large internal datasets and solve complex, non-standard analytical problems using advanced investigative methods when needed.
