Position Overview
As a Data Science Analyst within the Neurology AI program at Mayo Clinic, you will conduct in-depth analyses of extensive and varied datasets to uncover patterns and insights crucial for patient health. This role involves developing workflows for medical imaging and electrophysiological data, emphasizing a collaborative approach with clinicians, informaticians, and technical partners to create clinically relevant solutions. A significant part of this position includes software and data engineering, where you will develop and adapt software to integrate with existing systems for clinical data management, extraction, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Execute analytical procedures utilizing machine learning, deep learning, statistical data processing, and signal processing techniques to develop predictive models for clinical and business challenges.
- Develop and modify scripts and software applications to facilitate data management and extraction, and build workflows for medical imaging and electrophysiological data by interfacing with existing software systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, informaticians, and clinicians to design and implement analytic solutions for non-technical users, providing data-driven insights through a consultative, team-oriented approach.
- Contribute to the interpretation of data analyses, prepare reports, and present findings to business and clinical stakeholders.
- Assist users in understanding datasets and provide guidance on data requests and potential improvements.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or a related analytical discipline, coupled with at least three years of professional or research experience in data science, is required. A Master’s or PhD in a similar field, along with a minimum of one year of relevant professional or research experience, is preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Proficiency in Python programming is essential. Experience with Java or C is advantageous for system integration.
- Required experience includes SQL and data warehousing/data lake environments. Familiarity with Apache Spark or similar technologies is preferred.
- Basic understanding of time series analysis and signal processing methodologies is expected.
- Demonstrated experience applying analytical tools and methodologies, including machine learning and statistical modeling, along with experience in data modeling and exploration tools.
Compensation and Benefits
This is an exempt position. The annual salary range is $99,070 - $148,616, with the final offer determined by education, experience, and tenure, alongside internal equity. Employees are eligible for benefits, including multiple medical and dental plan options, vision coverage, pre-tax savings accounts (HSA and FSAs), and a competitive retirement package.
Schedule and Location
This is a full-time position requiring 80 hours per pay period. Standard weekday hours are expected, with some flexibility. The role is hybrid, requiring proximity to the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, MN, with on-site expectations to be discussed during the interview process. No weekend work is anticipated.
