Data Entry Clerk - Medical Billing

Overview

Actalent is urgently seeking a Medical Billing Data Entry Clerk to join a dynamic team specializing in endocrinology, andrology, and embryology laboratory procedures. This role is central to maintaining accurate billing and charting in a medical environment, focusing on compliance and insurance authorizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete billing cycle internally, ensuring precision and adherence to standards.
• Accurately bill and document all medical and laboratory procedures.
• Manage insurance authorizations and efficiently process claims.
• Address patient inquiries related to billing and provide comprehensive support.
• Support additional administrative tasks related to billing as required.

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of five years' experience in medical billing preferred; candidates with 3-4 years of strong relevant experience may also be considered.
• Proficiency in managing authorizations and claims.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC, ECW, and Atherna.
• Working knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology.

Additional Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is desirable but not mandatory.
• Expertise in insurance authorization, claim management, and billing procedures.

Work Environment and Schedule

The position is based in New York City with an emphasis on onsite presence in midtown Manhattan, although hybrid and fully remote arrangements are open for suitable candidates. The workweek is Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling options such as 8 AM to 4 PM, 9 AM to 5 PM, or 11 AM to 7 PM. The billing team currently consists of four members, with plans for expansion. Benefits include competitive compensation and paid time off.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range offered is $62,400 to $83,200. Ferny Fertility, the affiliated healthcare provider, delivers extensive women’s health services such as IVF and fertility preservation. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, paid leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
